PIL filed against land allocation in Gujarat HC

Social activist Bhanubhai Odedara has filed a PIL in Gujarat High Court seeking CBI’s sleuth for allotting land to private developer, citing that it has caused a loss of at least Rs 1,100 crore to the public exchequer.
The division bench of justices comprising Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya and Justice J B Pardiwala following to PIL filed has asked the state government to file a reply in a week.
Activist’s lawyer Vivek Mapara cited that, “state over 3.76 lakh sq mt of land in Koba village of Gandhinagar to K Raheja Corp Private Ltd, for a technology park, at a throw-away rate of Rs 470 per sq mt, when the Jantri rate (minimum price fixed by government) in the area was Rs 19,000 per sq mt.”
However, in the same area state government has allotted a peace of land for Rs. 8,800 per sq ft, he said. Also said that, “in the aftermath of land allocation to Raheja Group in a loss of more than Rs. 1,100cr.
